Ricardo Almeida is ready for WAR in his homestate of New Jersey, March 27th at UFC 111!

UFC welterweight Matt Brown (11-7 MMA, 4-1 UFC) faces off against local hometown favorite and Renzo Gracie Black Belt, Ricardo Almeida (11-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) at UFC 111.
"I enjoy fighting guys who press the action," Almeida recently told Grapplers.com (www.Grapplers.com). "It's easier than fighting someone who's going to play a chess match."
Of course, easy is a relative term in the fight game, and for a highly decorated submission grappler from Grapplers Quest Superfight Champion to ADCC (Abu Dhabi World Championships), Almeida play against a fighter such as Brown is to take the fight to the ground and end it there.
The 33-year-old New York City native came up short on the scorecards against Patrick Cote at UFC 86 and afterward, he rededicated himself to striking to make sure he could hold his own if the fight stayed up. "He's in the best shape I've seen, " commented Black Belt student of Almeida and TUF 7 Fighter, Dante Rivera. Rivera competes in a rematch against Bruno Bastos on Saturday, March 20th in a $1,000 Cash 4-Man Tournament. In Almeida's most recent appearance against Kendall Grove at UFC 101 this past August, Almeida won the day by taking the action down and maintaining top position.
Almeida's working with top UFC welterweight contender Frankie Edgar, working with the Rutgers University wrestling team, which Edgar assistant coaches, and boxing with trainer Mark Henry.
"I don't really prepare for a fighter," Almeida said. "I prepare for techniques. Like, if there are certain techniques I want to use in a fight, I'll focus more on that."
Note: Ricardo Almeida and Team Renzo Gracie were awarded "Top Ten Grappling Teams of the Decade" through Grapplers Quest Tournament Performance. In 2009, The Ricardo Almeida Team donated $1,000 to a Black Belt Absolute Cash Prize to help support Autism Awareness in one of the most generous and selfless gifts in the sport's history.
