FREE Screening of Vaccine Documentary,
THE GREATER GOOD at Sussex County Fairgrounds, Saturday at 8PM

AutismRadio.org Hosts Fundraiser and Awareness Weekend, Walk and Family Fun Filled Weekend in Augusta, New Jersey

{AUGUSTA, NEW JERSEY}~ The annual OktoberFest Fundraiser hosted by AutismRadio.org at Sussex County Fairgrounds will be hosting a free local screening of a powerful documentary on vaccine safety Saturday, October 27th at 7:30 PM. THE GREATER GOOD looks behind the behind the fear, hype and politics that have polarized the vaccine debate in America today. The film re-frames the emotionally charged issue and offers, for the first time, the opportunity for a rational and scientific discussion on how to create a safer and more effective vaccine program.

Filmmakers Leslie Manookian, Kendall Nelson and Chris Pilaro spent over five years researching and making the film, which follows three families personally impacted by vaccination. The film also features interviews by experts from all sides of the issue. (A full list of experts is available at http://www.greatergoodmovie.org/experts-in-the-field.) THE GREATER GOOD film has screened at a number of festivals this year including Sidewalk Moving Picture Film Festival where it won the Koroni award from the School of Public Health at the University of Alabama. It also grabbed the Cinematic Vision Award from the Amsterdam Film Festival.

“We hope the film will inspire more rational discussions about vaccinations, and serve as a resource for parents, physicians, policy makers and others who want to participate intelligently in the heated national dialogue on vaccines and vaccine safety,” said Leslie Manookian, Producer/Writer of THE GREATER GOOD.

“Our whole family watched my nephew Jonathan lose all 60 words in his vocabulary just days after an adverse affect to his final series of booster shots. I’ve coached and advised families who share the same sad story. Back in 2004, I was personally hospitalized for 2 days after an adverse affect to a flu vaccine that led to twelve days of insomnia.

“As parents first, and filmmakers second, vaccination is very important to us, and we learned that it is not at all a black and white issue. There is an urgent need for better education about vaccines, and everyone deserves the right to make well-informed decisions. Community screenings like this one in Augusta will make great strides in that direction,” said Kendall Nelson, who directed the film along with Chris Pilaro.

SPREAD THE WORD...all parents need to see this SHOCKING documentary

The Film
THE GREATER GOOD is a character-driven documentary that explores the cultural intersections where parenting meets modern medicine and individual rights collide with politics. The film offers parents, doctors and policy makers a safe space to speak openly, actively listen and to learn from one another. Mixing verité footage, intimate interviews, 1950s-era government-produced movies and up-to-date TV news reporting, THE GREATER GOOD weaves together the stories of families whose lives have been forever changed by vaccination.
