Phalanx welcomes Richie ‘BoogeyMan’ Martinez to the fight team! Richie is the current Tuff-N-Uff amateur 170-pound titleholder, which he won in his first year of fighting in mixed martial arts. The Tuff-N-Uff title is one of the most prestigious amateur fighting promotions in the US. Richie also earned his black belt in Jiu Jitsu after only 4 years and five months after he first stepped foot on the mat. During this time Richie has won multiple grappling events such as Gracie Worlds, United Grappling Federation (UGF), North American Grappling Association (NAGA), and many more.

Richie’s success on the mat and in the cage is largely attributed to his endless work ethic, his relentless ground game, and his extreme flexibility, limb dexterity, and strength developed through break dancing.

Richie was chosen as the first Phalanx Fighter largely in part to his reputation as being a supportive and giving person who is always eager to teach lower belts and bust out some dance moves to get the party started. Richie’s love of family and friends as well as Jiu Jitsu makes him a perfect match for the Phalanx team!
