Kurt Pellegrino vs. Marcos Avellan was one of the most anticipated East Coast Superfights in the history of Grapplers Quest. This superfight was hosted at the 2006 Grapplers Quest U.S. Nationals and All-Star Pro Challenge as the main event superfight in Bayonne, New Jersey. Why was it such a big match? Just three years earlier, Marcos Avellan exploded on the scene in the same venue, defeating several big name and top ranked grapplers, winning several pro tournaments along the way. Kurt "Batman" Pellegrino, then a student of Ricardo Almeida was the 2-Time Grapplers Quest defending superfight champion and defending the Team Renzo Gracie banner, Pellegrino vowed to defeat Avellan.
